FNS30107 Certificate III in Financial Services
Qualification notes
To provide maximum flexibility for packaging qualifications and employability outcomes, the FNS30107 Certificate III in Financial Services has been identified as a root qualification that includes the existing general qualification and the existing specialised insurance services qualification.
The changes to the general qualification include a qualification code change and new versions of the industry core units to include Employability Skills. There will also be new versions of elective units as a result of the inclusion of Employability Skills.
FNS30107 Certificate III in Financial Services
To attain a FNS30107 Certificate III in Financial Services 13 units must be achieved:
- 4 industry core units, plus
- 9 elective units
Where the industry core units have been demonstrated as a requirement of FNS20104 Certificate II in Financial Services exemption is provided.
This qualification is designed to reflect the role of entry level employees working across the entire financial services spectrum who perform duties such as:
- responding to customer enquiries
- sales and service
- maintaining financial records
- performing clerical duties
- applying fundamental skills in broking, distribution, banking, credit management and retail financial services.
Prerequisite Requirements
Where industry core units have been demonstrated as a requirement of Certificate II in Financial Services exemption is provided.
Industry Core Units
Achieve the following 4 industry core units:
FNSICIND301B Work in the financial services industry
FNSICGEN301B Communicate in the workplace
FNSICGEN302B Use technology in the workplace
FNSICGEN304B Apply health and safety practices in the workplace
Elective Units
Achieve 9 elective units. The 9 elective units may be selected as follows:
- all 9 elective units may be selected from the list of units in the Levels Chart for FNS04 Certificate III qualifications
- of the 9 elective units, 3 units may be selected from the list of units shown in the Levels chart for FNS04 Certificate IV qualifications
- of the 9 elective units, up to 3 units may be selected from other currently endorsed Training Packages in accordance with other packaging guidelines for this qualification
- if Tier 2 ASIC compliance is sought, the ASIC aligned units FNSASIC301B and FNSASIC302B must be selected

FNS30107 - Certificate III in Financial Services (Insurance Services)
To attain a Certificate III in Insurance Services 13 units must be achieved:
- 4 industry core units, plus
- 4 sectoral core units, plus
- 5 elective units
Where the industry core units have been demonstrated as a requirement of the FNS20104 Certificate II in Financial Services exemption is provided.
This qualification is designed to reflect the role of entry-level employees working in the insurance industry in service and support roles, including such duties as:
- determining coverage in accordance with insurance policy wording (if a claim)
- obtaining relevant facts from a client regarding an insurance claim
- registering insurance claim details in relevant databases and paying claims
- providing underwriting information and answering inquiries from clients and from insurance agents, consultants and other company personnel
- reviewing individual and group applications for automobile, fire, health, liability, life, property, marine, aircraft and other insurance
- supporting underwriting processes to make acceptance of new and renewal applications possible

Achieve the following 4 industry core units:
FNSICIND301B Work in the financial services industry
FNSICGEN301B Communicate in the workplace
FNSICGEN302B Use technology in the workplace
FNSICGEN304B Apply health and safety practices in the workplace
Sectoral Core Units
Achieve a minimum of 4 of the following sectoral core units:
FNSINSV301B Evaluate risk for renewal business
FNSINSV302B Process alteration to insurance policy
FNSINSV303B Issue contract of insurance
FNSINSV304B Issue renewal advice
FNSINSV305B Issue cancellation advice
FNSINSV306B Receive and record/register a claim
FNSINSV307B Follow organisation procedures to process claim
FNSINSV308B Process facultative and treaty reinsurance claims
FNSINSV309B Settle claims
FNSINSV310B Process a claims payment
FNSICGEN402B Participate in negotiations
Elective Units
Achieve at least 5 elective units. The elective units may be selected as follows:
- all 5 elective units may be selected from the list of units in the Levels Chart for FNS04 Certificate III qualifications including the remaining sectoral core units listed above
- of the 5 elective units, up to 2 units may be selected from the list of units in the Levels Chart for FNS04 Certificate IV qualifications
- the remaining sectoral core units may be selected as elective units
- of the 5 elective units, up to 2 units may be selected from other currently endorsed Training Packages in accordance with other packaging guidelines for this qualification
- the choice of electives should be appropriate to the level and integrity of the qualification and to the workplace outcomes it is designed to meet other insurance related qualifications within the FNS04 Financial Services Training Package carry prerequisite requirements on a number of the sector core and elective units. It is recommended that these qualifications are investigated prior to selecting electives to allow for future planning
